For Cello and Piano

1 min

Premiere: July 18, 2017, by Diana Ligeti and Nathan Brandwein, Ecoles d’Art Americaines de Fontainebleau, FRANCE

Program Notes

Danga is the relatively short introduction of an evening length Pansori performance.  I’ve reinterpreted the title to be a short 1 min. introductory piece for cello and piano.  Musically, this piece uses a earthy, gritty korean inspired approach (and phrasing reminiscent of pansori) to the cello writing with large open bell like chords ringing through on the piano.

This was written in honor of Steve Osgood, TV Anchorman and longtime supporter of the Arts at Fontainebleau Summer Programs.  Commissioned as a variation alongside other distinguished Fontainebleau Composer Alumni.
