About the Series:

The Graphic Series:Lead Sheets is an ongoing set of colored graphic scores for creative musicians. They combine contemporary new music performance aesthetics with the performance practice of jazz lead sheets. Individual scores are designed for solos, duos, trios, quartets or large ensembles, instrumentation is often open, and different interpretative approaches (including open form) are encouraged to suit groups of musicians who enjoy performing together.

Two or more of these scores can be performed simultaneously by different instrumental groups. They can also be performed in tandem to the Piano Preludes.

Duo and Trio scores can be performed as indicated (for duos or trios) or can also be performed on a single instrument by mapping the two or three different lines to different textures or techniques of the instrument.

This technique was first created in the Israeli Trilogy for the Hyperion Ensemble and premiered at the Enescu Festival (Bucharest) in 2017, and then developed with Vasko Dukovski for Sarang Ga for solo Bass Clarinet.  In this piece, each of the three colors mapped onto a different technique of the bass clarinet (mouthpiece noise, fundamental pitches, upper register openings). Current scores include open forms, and both small and large ensemble formations.

The Graphic Series:Lead Sheets was workshopped with Neither/Nor Ensemble in December 2018 and January 2019 and premiered February 5, 2019 by Neither/Nor at Berklee, Boston

They have been premiered by ensembles and soloists including Hyperion Ensemble (Bucharest), String Noise, Either/OR, Mivos String Quartet, Hypercube, Nightingale Vocal Ensemble, Neither/Nor, Vasko Dukovski, Gamin, Nadav Lev, Mariel Roberts, Lauren Cauley, and others.

There are currently over 50 scores, and certain scores have yet to be premiered. For a complete list of individual score performances, please see Performances
