The Graphic Series:Lead Sheets is an ongoing set of colored graphic scores for creative musicians. They combine contemporary new music performance aesthetics with the performance practice of jazz lead sheets.
The Atlas (2023) is an hour long concert work for extended piano and string quartet in six full movements and multiple shorter interludes, exploring new possibilities inside-the-piano.
A ballet by Miro Magloire to music by Richard Carrick featuring The Mill, 5 Piano Preludes and “in flow”. Sea was commissioned by the New Chamber Ballet and premiered in 2021. It received a new performance in 2023 with updated choreography free from covid related restrictions.
Richard’s engagement with Korean Gugak lead him to be the featured composer in “Beyond Borders” a collaborative concert with the Korean Consul General’s office celebrating the US-ROK Alliance 70th Anniversary.
L'Algérie (2024) is an introspective followup to The Atlas, incorporating references to my maternal heritage, specifically through melody. It is in nine movements and 45 minutes duration.
The Piano Preludes are an ongoing cycle of works for solo piano based on evocative places and incorporating a wide variety of piano techniques, based on locations surrounding the Mediterranean Sea.
