Program Note:
Phosphene is a phenomenon where the eye perceives light without light actually entering the retina. One might say it is a biological trompe l'oeil. This short duo is the first movement of a two-movement work involving video simulating the experience one might have of seeing moving red colors when facing the sun with closed eyes. The word phosphene comes from the Greek words phos (light) and phainein (to show).
